Royal Win for the Rainforest (12/01)
His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales lauded a consensus report issued last week by the Informal Working Group of 35 nations which lays out plans to reduce the destruction of tropical rainforests over a five year period.
The week's announcement was good news for the rainforest as Norway, the U.S and the UK all pledged financial support, targeting a 25% decrease of annual deforestation rates by 2015.

Battery Made of Air
An announcement last week by the Technion?Israel Institute may chart a new course for the evolution of battery technology using two of nature's most abundant resources ? air and silicon.
The research team believes a rechargeable consumer battery could be ready in as little as 5 years and a car battery in 10, potentially ease pressure on limited global lithium supplies.
